Woody's Trashy Habits
In the time that Woody and I have been together there are a couple of things that I can say he has never done. The first is wash dishes. The second is discover the use of the cans with liners around the house. Of the two the last one perturbs me the most. After years of doing dishes as a kid for our family of seven at the time, after washing dishes after big parties, after dinner for a household of four as an adult, washing dishes for the two of us is no big deal. But following Woody's trash trail is frustrating. I've attempted to explain to him in words what a trash can is and the purpose for it in our home. I've even done some hands on training. I've hinted, begged, and explained until I've just given up. I'm convinced that he believes that his littering magically makes it's way into the can on its own. He'll take all the tags and clasps off the dry cleaned shirts each morning and lay the bits of trash on the counter right above the trash can. But he refuses to go that extra three inches to throw it in the can. This photo is a prime example of what I mean. He was able to remove the empty roll from the wall holder. He replaced it with a new roll. But that must have used up all his energy because the empty roll only made it to the top of the trash can. And notice its an effortless can to use. The foot petal makes it so easy to open and dispose of trash. Although I've been tempted to go a few days without picking up after him but the minute I ride in his big Dodge Dually I realize that it would not render a solution. So I've resigned myself to pick up after him and rather than be upset by, I laugh. It's just so funny that someone who does so much and capable of feats so many others would be unable to manage is unable to master the art of throwing trash in a trash can.
