De Colores from St Francis on the Brazos in Waco, TX

That's right, Fellow Cursillistas, I have visited the parish that held the first Cursillo in the United States.  Interestingly, we came to Waco unexpectedly and without planning.  We went out to look for a place that provided laundry and dry cleaning service and while driving I saw this beautiful church a few blocks away.  We drove into the parking lot across the street and I took some photos.  Because a police officer was watching us, we were hesitant about approaching much closer.  But I came home and did some research and couldn't believe it when I discovered that it in fact was the parish of Spainard Fr Gabriel Fernandez in 1954.  This church is almost 80 years old and has a wonderful history.  My plan is to return in the next couple of days and attend mass there.  I will take a close up photo of the plague on the outside wall that commemorates the first Cursillo.  The National Cursillo website has a beautiful article regarding Fr Fernandez, St Francis and the first Cursillo.  By clicking on Fr Fernandez name in this article you will be automatically directed there.  Another great article regarding the church building history can be viewed when you click on St Francis.   DE COLORES!
